OPEN BIDS FOR TEMPORARY LOAN WARRANTS This being the date set for receiving bids for temporary loan warrants in an amount not to exceed $1,000,000.00, evidencing a temporary loan for the General Fund of the City of South Bend, to be dated April 1, 1970, payable in one lump sum on or before the 31st day of July, 1970, notice of publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on March 13 and March 20, 1970, were read and found to be sufficient. BIDS OPENED - IMPROVEMENT RESOLUTION NO. 3297 - HAWTHORNE DRIVE This being the date set for receiving bids for the improvement of Hawthorne Drive, from McKinley to Colfax, by constructing a Class C pavement with curb repair, the Clerk tendered proofs of notice by publication in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri County News on March 6 and March 13, 1970, which were read and found to be sufficient. KRUPA Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the retirement of Alex M.'Krupa from the South Bend Police Department, effective March 20, 1970, having been appointed'March 9, 1942 and having served over 28 years. MILITARY DUTY - POLICE OFFICER JEROME D. KRECZMER Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of Potice officer Jerome D. Kreczmer to be excused for military duty from April 5 to April 20, 1970, upon the recommendation of Chief of Police Loren M. Bussert. REQUEST TO MOVE BUILDING APPROVED Qc Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the request of Lewis lam, Mitschelen, mover, to remove the Christian Reformed Church building from p: 3401 McKinley Avenue to the southwest corner of Hickey and Hepler Road, was approved by the Board upon t(hh recommendation of Forrest R. West, Building Commissioner. BUILDING DEPARTMENT - SUB -STANDARDS DIVISION J. W. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director; appeared before the Board and the following matters were taken up; 936-936'z W. LaSalle Street. Attorney William Hosinski appeared before the Board on behalf of Jean Pridmon Bryon, owner, who lives in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mr. Hosinski>:.stated the property is being sold on land contract to Victoria and Tonia Matney; that he notified them to appear before the Board this date, but they failed to do so; that the property is in bad condition and he would be agreeable to its demolition; that he will contact Mrs. Bryon and advise the Board or Mr. Adamson of her decision. Upon motion made, seconded and carried the matter was continued one week. 1320 Hine Street. Bernard Thomas, owner, appeared before the Board and asked an extension of'60 days in which to bring the property up to standard or have it demolished. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the matter was continued 60 days on condition that the building be kept closed. 661 LaPorte Avenue. Mrs. Louise Rozek, 624 N. Birdsell, presented to the Board a complaint signed by herself and nine others concerning the deteriorated condition of the property at 661 LaPorte Avenue owned by Don Clemons. After some discussion, Mrs. Rosek was told that if there has been a specific violation of an ordinance then the matter can be looked into, but if there has been no violation'of the law then the Bard is limited as to what it can do. 117 E. Elder Street. Neither Melburn nor Margie C. Yeager appeared as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried,_ the matter was continued one week. 1302 27th Street. Mrs. Crystal Perry did not appear as requested. Mr. Adamson stated the house is open, and that it has been posted as unfit for human habitation. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub -Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structure at 1302 27th Street. 510 E, Ohio -Street. Francis Perkins, who lives in California, did not appear as requested. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Sub - Standards Director was authorized to seek bids for demolition of the structures at 510 E. Ohio Street. 3/23/70 1141 S. Michigan Street, Mr. Adamson, Sub -Standards Director, reported attorney Charles Roemer has telephoned him the owner of the property is willing for the City to remove the structure. Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board approved the request of Mill Race, Inc., to withdraw its petition to vacate a portion of Hydraulic Avenue, filed with the Board on September 22, 1969. PETITION FOR ABANDONMENT OF EASEMENT - MILL RACE INC. Attorney Bruce H. Stewart, as Vice President of Mill Race, Inc., filed with the Board a petition to abandon an easement presently held by the City of South Bend, described in said petition as being 30 feet in width located southeasterly from Hydraulic Avenue and northwesterly from the west leg of the east Race presently owned by Mill Race, inc. Bruce Street, South Bend, Indiana, for permission to hold a white cane sale from May 15 to May 21, 1970, subject to the approval for such sales by the Charitable Solicitations Commission.. PETITION FOR STREET LIGHTS - LORAN STREET Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, a petition signed by Robert L. Swintz, South Bend, Indiana and 20 others for street lights on Logan Street, from the St. Joseph River to Mishawaka Avenue was referred to Traffic Engineering for.study and recommendation to the Board. REQUEST FOR TRAFFIC LIGHT - PLEASANT AND VINE Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried a petition signed by Robert L. Swintz, South Bend, Indiana and 20 others for a traffic light at Pleasant?Street or Vine Street was referred to Traffic Engineering for study and recommendation to the Board.
