Special Meeting September 1, 1972
A Special Meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety convened on
Friday, September 1, 1972 at 2:00 P.M. All members were present.
The meeting was called for the purpose of taking action on a proposal
to straighten the intersection of Notre Dame Avenue and Sorin Street. -
Upon motion made, seconded and unanimously carried the Board agreed upon
an offer to purchase two pieces of property, namely:

Lots Number 23 and 24 as shown on the recorded plat of
Lederer and Longley's Subdivision of Out Lot 1 in Samuel
Cottrell's Addition to the Town of Lowell, now a part
of the City of South Bend, Indiana from Fredna McPherson,
Raymond E Shanafield and Margaret G. Shanafiefd, his wife.
Lot numbered 25 as shown on the recorded Plat of Lederer
and Longley's Subdivision of Out Lot 1 in Samuel L.
Cottrell's Addition to the Town of Lowell now within and
a part of the City of South Bend, Indiana, from Aktive Sales
and Service, Inc., an; -Indiana Corporation.
The matter is now referred to the Legal Department for appropriate Action.
REQUEST TO CLOSE HASS DRIVE
A request was received, containing twenty six signatures, ask$ng permission
to Close Hass Drive from Kettering to Rose Streets from 1:00 to 7:00 P.M.
on Monday, September 4, 1972 for a block party. Upon motion made, seconded
and carried, the request was granted.
APPOINT APPRAISERS FOR CITY OWNED PROPERTY
Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board appointed Reginald
Howard and Philip Oestreicher as appraisers for excess property of the
city.
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon motion
made, seconded and carried, the meeting s adjoured at 2:45 P.M.
