Special Meeting June 30, 1972
A special meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety was held
on Friday, .tune 30, 1972 at 1:30 P.M. Present were Mr. James'V.
Barcome and Mr. William J. Richardson, Members of the Board.
The meeting was called for the purpose of taking action on the
following letter addressed to Mr. Sweeney:
June 27, 1972

South Bend, Indiana
Re: East Monroe Street
Dear Chuck:
This will serve to confirm our conversation of June, 27, 1972.
As I indicated to you during the course of our aforesaid conversation
the residents of East Monroe Street in South Bend, Indiana are inter-
ested in holding their annual 'Block Party" on Monday, July 3, 1972
Accordingly, we would appreciate the cooperation of the appropriate
personnel from the South Bend City Administration, in permitting us
to block off traffic on East Monroe Street from 6:00 P.M. - 1:00
A.M. on the aforesaid date. We would also request that we be provided
with the necessary barricades which we will, of course, be most
happy to set up and take down.
We appreciate your cooperation and assistance with this matter and
as a former resident of East Monroe Street, we would hereby extend to you
otUr invitation to have you attend this event.

Upon motion made, seconded and carried the Board granted the request
of Mr. Sopko to block East Monroe Street in South Bend for the purpose
of holding the block party.
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon
motion made, seconded -and carried, th eetingad' rned at 1:35 P.M.
