REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 20, 1975
A regular meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
9:30 a.m, on Monday, January 20, 1975 with all members present.
Deputy City Attorney Kathleen Cekanski was also present. Minutes
of the previous meeting were reviewed and approved.
PAYMENT REQUEST APPROVED, FIRE'STATION NO. 4
Payment Request No. 4 for the construction of 'Fire Station No. 4
was received from the Muia Construction Company. The request was
in the amount of $13,070.70. Upon motion made, seconded and
carried, the payment request was approved.
PETITION TO VACATE ALLEY FILED - ASSOCIATES BANCORP, INC.
Associates.Bancorp, Inc., by their attorney Jack C. Dunfee, files
their petition to vacate the east -west alley south of Ruskin Street,
from the west line of Lot 16 of G. W. Mikesell's First Addition to
the east line of a 14 foot north -south alley running south from
Hildreth Street. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
petition was filed and it was noted that it has been forwarded to
the Bureau of Design and Administration for preliminary review and
recommendation.
ST. JOSEPH RIVER RUN APPROVED
The Board received a report from the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting
regarding the request of the Michiana Watershed to hold their Fifth
Annual River Run on TZay 10, 1975. Mr. Hazinski reported that he
had conferred with Captain Sweitzer of the Police Traffic Detail
and Donald Germann, Civil Defense Director, and he recommended
approval, provided off-street parking is provided for contestants.
Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Board approved the
recommendation.
REPORT RE: CURB AT PARK LANE AND IIICIIIGA14
The Board had received a complaint regarding a deteriorated curb
at the intersection of Park Lane and Michigan Street which was
referred to the Bureau of Streets for investigation. Donald Decker,
Dire.ctor.of the Division of Transportation, reported to the Board
that they plan to rebuild the curb at the intersection as soon as
the weather permits. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the
report was ordered filed.
PAYMENT REQUEST NO. 39 APPROVED, WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT ADDITIONS
The Board received Payment Request No. 39 for the Wastewater Treat-
ment Plant Additions from Sollitt Construction Company in the amount
of $161,042.27. Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the Payment
Request was approved.
REQUEST FOR STUDEBAKER MUSEUM SIGNAGE ON PUBLIC STREETS APPROVED
Carl Tuveson was present representing the Studebaker Drivers Club.
They seek permission to place signs on the City streets at four
locations indicating the location of the Studebaker Museum location.
Clem Hazinski, Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, was
present and one of the proposed signs was displayed. Mr. Hazinski
recommended approval of the request to post the signs at the
following locations: the corner of Marion and N. Main Street, the
corner of South Michigan and Bronson, the corner of South Main and
Bronson and the Corner of Lafayette and Bronson. Upon motion made
seconded and carried, the Board approved the installation of the
signs.

REQUEST FOR PARADE - HOPE CHAPEL CHURCH OF GOD
The Hope Chapel Church of God requested permission to hold a
parade on June 7, 1975 in conjunction with their annual Bible School.
Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the request was referred
to the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting.for review and recommendation.
BONDS APPROVED
Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, sent a recommendation to
the Board that the following bonds had been properly executed and
could be approved:
CONTRACTOR'S BOND - Asher Construction Co. to l/l/76
Woodcox Building Contractor to 12/31/75
Leon Yoder to.2/15/76
EXCAVATION BOND - Donald D. White to 12/1/75
Charles F. Stickler to 12/3.1/75
Charles 0.. Hawkins to l/l/76
O William Cinal to 12/31/75

W BONDS RELEASED
Ray S. Andrysiak, Bureau of Engineering, reportdd to the Board
that requests had been received to release the following bonds and
his investigation had revealed that the Board could release the
bonds.
Contractor's Bond for Donald Marshall
Contractor's Bond for Taylor Construction Company
Excavation Bond for Taylor Construction Company
Upon motion made, seconded and carried, the bonds were released
effective January 20, 1975.
STREET LIGHT OUTAGE REPORT FILED
The Street Light Outage Report for the period of January 2 through
15 was received and ordered filed.
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon
motion made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:55 a.m.
