A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened
at 3:20 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, 1977 by President
Patrick McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Brunner present and
Mr. Mullen absent.
Mr. McMahon reported that the purpose of the special meeting
was to consider a request of the St. Joseph County Veteran's
organization to close Washington Street, between Main and
Lafayette, on Friday, November 11, 1977 from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.
for Annual Veteran's Day ceremonies.

Mr. McMahon read the recommendation of Ralph J. Wadzinski, Manager
of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, indicating that the street
closing could be approved with the stipulation that the parking
lane and the northernmost driving lane be kept open to allow
access to the American National Bank Parking Garage. Mr. McMahon
made a motion that the closing of Washington Street be approved,
subject to Mr. Wadzinski's recommendation. Mr. Brunner seconded
the motion and it carried.
