JULX 7, 1977
A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
1:15 p.m, on Thursday,'July 7, 1977 by President Patrick M. McMahon,
with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Brunner present.
TENT SALE APPROVED - ESLINGER'S, 2701 SOUTH MICHIGAN
The purpose of the special meeting was to consider a request from
Eslinger Furniture and Appliances, Inc., 2701 South Michigan Street,
to erect a tent and conduct a tent sale from July 8 through July
25. The Board received a report from the Fire Inspection Bureau
that the tent is flame resistant and has been approved by the Under-
writer's Laboratories. It was recommended that fire extinguishers
be provided and that 44" aisles should be provided and maintained at
all times and that there should be no smoking allowed in the tent
at any time. John DeLee, Building Commissioner, submitted a report
indicating that the temporary electrical hook-up meets requirements
and he recommended approval of the tent sale. Ralph J. Wadzinski,
Manager of the Bureau of Traffic and Lighting, advised the Board that
his Bureau had no objection to the tent sale, with the following
stipulations: 1. The tent remain on the private parking lot.
2. No signage or flashing arrows of any type to be placed on the
public right-of-way. 3. Any signs used are to be placed close to the
ground andlighted signs should be dimmed or directed away from traffic.
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried,
the tent sale was approved, subject to the requirements listed above.
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon motion
made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and carried, the special
meeting adjourned at 1:20 p.m.
