MAY 17, 1977
A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened
at 2:20 p.m. on. Tuesday, may 17, 1977 by President Patrick M.
McMahon, with Mr. McMahon and Mr. Brunner present.
ANIERICAN CANCER SOCIETY FUND SOLICITATION APPROVED
Mr. McMahon noted that the purpose of the special meeting was
to consider a request of the American Cancer Society to solicit
funds at an intersection in South Bend on Saturday, May 21.
Three intersections were submitted for consideration - Angela
and Michigan, Ireland Road and U. S. 31 and Ironwood Drive and
Mishawaka Avenue. Hours for the fund solicitation would be 10:00
a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and there would be six volunteers. The Board
discussed stipulations made in granting similar requests in the
past. Mr. McMahon made a motion that the request be approved, with
the stipulation that the intersection to be used would be Ironwood
Drive and Mishawaka. Avenue on the date and hours stated, that the
activity would be confined to the sidewalk area and that a Hold
Harmless Agreement would be executed by an officer of the American
Cancer Society and filed with the Board. Mr. Brunner seconded the
motion and it carried.
Upon motion made by Mr. McMahon, seconded by Mr. Brunner and
carried, the special meeting adjourned at 2:25 p.m. .
