RuszKOWSKI, CHIEF OF POLICE Board of Public Works City of South Bend, Indiana Honorable Board Members, Date: October 28, 2016, 2016 The South Bend Police Department is requesting Board approval for the special purchase of an undercover vehicle for the purpose of narcotics investigations. Due to the nature of the vehicle use, the type, descriptors and dealership must be kept confidential as this would pose an officer safety risk if this information should become public knowledge. The sale price of the vehicle is $34,000.00 we have a trade in allowance of $7,000 the balance paid from non - reverting funds would be no more than $27,000. I have found two other comparable vehicles which sale price was $35,474 and $35,995. The two trade in vehicles are current undercover vehicles and the trade value represents the total for this purchase. There will be no trade value credit, all value will be use in this purchase. The purpose of the letter is to request the Board to approve the purchase, and approve the release of the two trade-in vehicles.
