County-City Building South Bend IN 46601 Attention Mr John Stark Subject Asbestos-Containing Materials Survey 814/18 South Lafayette Street Dear John We have completed our survey sampling and analysis for suspected asbestos-containing materials for this structure.We organized these materials into 10 homogeneous areas of like materials based on the type of material its use and its probable date of installation There are three categories of suspected asbestos-containing friable materials ACM surfacing SM which includes plaster and acoustical sprays thermal systems insulation TSI which includes pipe and vessel insulation and miscellaneous material MM which includes floor tile ceiling tile drywall and linoleum The results of the sampling and analysis are summarized in the attached table The remaining suspect materials floor tile and roofing are EPA Category regulated ACM RACM non-friable materials These were assumed to contain asbestos to save analysis costs These materials can remain in or on the building when it is demolished but must be reported to IDEM and EPA in the required notifications As shown in the tables there were no friable asbestos-containing materials identified in the building in addition to the floor tile and roofing assumed to contain asbestos Thus no asbestos abatement will be necessary prior to demolition of the building We will proceed with preparation of the IDEM notification for these Category materials to which you will have to add the demolition contractors name the intended start date and check for $50.00 The completed form should be mailed to Cashier
