This would extend the Intermediate Completion Date from November 1, 2016 until May 26, 2017; prior to Memorial Day. We are requesting this due to the safety hazard that may be presented with live traffic flowing through the round -about and heading south on Olive while construction activities would be taking place within the center of the round -about— directly in the potential path of a southbound car or truck. Technically all work required for the first intermediate completion date would have been completed, aside from just opening Olive north of the intersection. Whereas, the Standard Specifications for this contract provides for such work to be performed, the following change is recommended. General or Standard Change Order Explanation It was discussed at length at several progress meeting to keep Olive St north of Sample St closed until such a time that the roundabout is constructed. MOT will open Olive St north of Sample and will include the use of the roundabout to facilitate safer traffic patterns. City to South Bend, County of St Joseph, DLZ design firm,and LFA construction inspection teem are all in agreement to keep Olive St closed for the winter and provide a safer traffic pattern to the public. during this time. No additional payment will be made.
