The City Clerk is also charged with keeping the City Seal, administering official oaths, attending all regular and special meetings of the Common Council, and performing other duties as may be required by the legislative body. Indiana Code § 36- 4 -11 -4 authorizes the City Clerk to appoint the "number of deputies and employees authorized by the city legislative body ", which are established by a separate ordinance. The City Clerk currently manages a staff of four (4) employees, which includes overseeing the Ordinance Violations Bureau. The maximum salary for the City Clerk for the 2017 calendar years shall be established as follows: 2016 2017 $ 59,466 $69,466 Section II. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council, approval by the Mayor and legal u lication.
