AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, SETTING THE ANNUAL SALARY FOR THE COMMON
COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR CALENDAR YEAR 2017
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT
The South Bend Common Council is required to fix the annual compensation of elected city
officers. Indiana Code § 36 -4 -7 -2 authorizes the legislative body to carry out these
responsibilities.
This ordinance proposes a two percent (2 %) maximum increase for calendar year 2017 for the
nine - member Common Council.

Section I. The maximum salaries for the members of the South Bend Common Council for the
2017 calendar years shall be established as follows, which reflects a maximum 2% increase over
the 2016 maximum rate:

Section II. This ordinance shall be in full force and e and after its passage by the
Common Council, approval by the Mayor and legal pu ication.
