A Special Meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at
9:35 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 1988 by Board member Patricia E.
DeClercq with Mrs. DeClercq and Ms. Katherine Humphreys present.
Board President John E. Leszczynski was not in attendance.
AWARD BID - ST. JOSEPH/WAYNE PARKING FACILITY
Mrs. DeClercq advised that the Board is in receipt of a
Memorandum from Mr. Michael P. Meeks, Director, Division of
Engineering, recommending that the Board award the low bid of
Carl J. Reinke and Sons, Inc., 1216 West Sample Street, P.O. Box
3095, South Bend, Indiana, as submitted to the Board on June 13,
1988 as follows:

Mrs. DeClercq advised that Mr. Michael P. Meeks and Ms. Ann
Kolata, Deputy Executive Director, Department of Economic
Development, were present to answer any questions regarding this
matter.
Mr. Meeks addressed questions raised by the news media regarding
the alternates awarded. He also advised that the construction
schedule depends on the date the Notice to Proceed is issued but
it is anticipated that the Notice to Proceed would be issued on
July 19, 1988 and the construction completion date would be May
1, 1989. Should the issuance of the Notice to Proceed be
delayed, the completion date would also be delayed that same
amount of time. Mr. Meeks also confirmed for the news media that
there is late penalty charge of $500.00 per day.
Therefore, upon a motion made by Mrs. DeClercq, seconded by Ms.
Humphreys and carried, the recommendation was accepted and the
bid awarded as outlined above.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a
motion made by Ms. Humphreys, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and
carried, the Special Meeting of the Board was adjourned at 9:40
a.m.
