HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/08/91 Board of Public Works Special Meeting MinutesSPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 8, 1991 A Special Meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 8, 1991, by Board President John E. Leszczynski, with Mr. Leszczynski, Mrs. Patricia E. DeClercq and Ms. Katherine Humphreys present. Also present was Assistant City Attorney Mary H. Mueller. OPENING OF QUOTATIONS - ONE (1) COMPRESSOR AND ASSOCIATED LABOR AND EQUIPMENT (HOWARD PARK ICE RINK FACILITY) Mr. Leszczynski advised that this was the date set for the opening of sealed Quotations for the above referred to equipment. The following Quotations were publicly opened and read: FISHER REFRIGERATION, INC. 1612 Lincolnway East South Bend, Indiana 46628 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Keith Hathaway. QUOTATION: $18,867.00 Recommend two (2) additional items - $2,506.00 SCHAMBAUGH & SONS P.O. Box 1287 Fort Wayne, Indiana 46801 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Don LeVangie, Refrigeration Group Manager QUOTATION: $22,450.00 DELTA-T COMPANY, INC. 1136 South Lafayette Boulevard South Bend, Indiana Quotation was submitted by Mr. William W. Wampler. QUOTATION: $22,677.00 HERMANN & GOETZ, INC. 225 .South Lafayette Boulevard South Bend, Indiana 46601 Quotation was submitted by Mr. Service Manager QUOTATION: $22,228.24 Douglas D. Wagley, Mechanical Upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the above Quotations were referred to the Department of Public Parks for review and recommendation. Mayor Joseph E. Kernan was present at the Board meeting for the opening of Quotations for the compressor for the Howard Park Ice Rink and advised that there is other work that needs to be done at the ice skating rink. The City will look internally for this work but offers have been made from various trade groups to provide assistance. Mayor Kernan noted that the families that have been involved in the repairs at the ice rink are also exploring ways to raise additional funds to purchase the second compressor. It has been estimated that it could take four (4) to six (6) weeks to get the compressor and for installation, which could be early to mid -December, but the contractor will not know for sure until after the equipment is delivered. Mr. Leszczynski advised that the quotes received today are for a new compressor and miscellaneous parts around the compressor. This will bring it up to code. 1 LJ 1 SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 8. 1991 PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR: QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS REGARDING LAND ADJACENT TO BOLAND PARK Councilman Sean Coleman was present and inquired about land adjacent to Boland Park. Mr. Leszczynski advised that he has nothing to report. Councilman Coleman stated that he wants to work with the Board as he knows of an interested party. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a motion made by Mr. Leszczynski, seconded by Mrs. DeClercq and carried, the meeting adjourned at 9:43 a.m. AATTST: ak, d.
