HomeMy WebLinkAbout07/30/01 Board of Public Works Special Meeting Minutesoff► SPECIAL MEETING JULY 30, 2001 A special meeting of the Board of Public Works was convened at 9:33 a.m. on Monday, July 30, 2001, by Board President Gary A. Gilot, with Mr. Carl P. Littrell and Mr. Donald E. Inks present. Also present was Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. AGENDA ITEM ADDED Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following item was added to the agenda: - Plat, Municipal Protection, Second Minor Subdivision OPENING OF BIDS - ONE (1) MORE OR LESS, 2001 POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT JET RODDER/VACUUM SEWER CLEANING MACHINE This was the date set for receiving and opening of sealed bids for the above referred to equipment. The Clerk tendered proofs of publication of Notice in the South Bend Tribune and the Tri-County News which were found to be sufficient. The following bids were opened and publicly read: ADVANCE MUNICIPAL EQUIPMENT, INC. 1501 Broadway East Chicago, Illinois 46312 Bid was signed by Mr. Jim Katter Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed Ten per cent (10%) Bid Bond was submitted n One (1) New 2001 /2001 Super Products Camel Per Specifications Mounted 2001/2002 Sterling Truck $235,600.00 Less Trade 1988 Vactor -$ 30,000.00 Total $205,600.00 Options: Hydraulic Tailgate $ 2,730.00 Hydraulic Tool Hookups (2) $ 2,275.00 Automatic Recycling/Return to Sewer $ 9,680.00 DEEDS EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC. 2203 North Michigan Road Plymouth, Indiana 46563 Bid was signed by Mr. Daniel Brennan Non -Collusion Affidavit was in order Non -Discrimination Commitment form was completed Ten per cent (10%) Bid Bond was submitted One (1) Vactor Jet Rodder Model 2110-36 Mounted on a 2002 Sterling Model LT7501 $232,472.00 Less Trade -In of City's Vactor -$ 45,000.00 Net Price after Trade -In $187,472.00 Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the above bids were referred to Central Services for review and recommendation. APPROVAL OF REQUEST TO ADVERTISE FOR THE RECEIPT OF BIDS - PALAIS ROYALE RENOVATIONS - PROJECT NO. 101-051 In a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, requested permission to advertise for the receipt of bids for the above referred to project. Therefore, upon a motion made by Mr. Inks, SPECIAL MEETING DULY 30, 2001 seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the request to advertise for the receipt of bids was approved. �� 1 L�,LI�I�I� i - �uu 1HEAST NEIGHBORHOOD REDEVELOPMENT -PHASE II Utility easements in the vacated alleys between High Street, Marietta Street, PennsylvaIn a memorandum to the Board, Mr. Carl Littrell, City Engineer, requested permission to release nia Avenue, and the vacated portion of Wenger Street, on behalf of the Department of Redevelopment for the above referred to project. There are no public sewer or water facilities in these previously vacated alleys. Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the request was approved. Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, secondedbyMr. Inks and carried the plat for the Municipal Protection Second Minor Subdivision was approved. This plat sets the boundaries between he Municipal Services Facility and the jail site. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES Upon a motion made by Mr. Littrell, seconded by Mr. Inks and carried, the following traffic control devices were approved: New Installation - No Parking This Side of Street - Tow Zone New Installation - No Through Traffic New Installation - Optional Movement Left Sign New Installation - No Through Traffic New Installation - Wait Delayed Signal New Installation - Turn Arrow New Installation - Wait Delayed Signal New Installation - No Parking - Bus Zone Walter Street, Michigan to Fellows, South Side. Columbia and Monroe, NE Corner for northbound traffic Western and St. Joseph for eastbound traffic Park Department has worked with the neighborhood on this problem. Cars parking on residents' lawns. Narrow street with cars parked on both sides. Wayne/Western Improvement Project Wayne/Western Improvement Project Western and St. Joseph, SE Wayne/Western Improvement Corner for eastbound Project Traffic Western and St. Joseph for westbound traffic Western and St. Joseph - Eastbound land and above and next to traffic light head Western and St. Joseph for east bound traffic South Street, Main to Michigan, South Side Wayne/Western Improvement Project Wayne/Western Improvement Project Wayne/Western Improvement Project Requested by Transpo; Cars parked on South Street all day and busses cannot park. Mr. Littrell seconded the motion which carried.
