POLICE SELECTION PANEL NOVEMBER 20, 2006
The Board of Public Safety met in the Police Selection Panel on Monday, November 20, 2006, at
8:32 a.m. The meeting was held at the South Bend Police Department in the Auditorium, 701 West
Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b) (2) (B) and
(b} (6) (A). President Jesusa Rodriguez and Board Members Juanita Dempsey and Bruce J.
BonDurant were present. Board Members Donald Alford and Patrick Cottrell were not present.
Attorney Thomas Bodnar, and Police Chief Thomas Fautz were also present. Board members did
not discuss any subject matter other than the subject matter as specified in the Public Notice.

Mr. Bodnar made reference to the letter of recommendation from-Chief Fautz for the
probationary employment with the South Bend Police Department for the following
individuals:
Mr. Douglas Alan Masterson, Mr. Davin Maurice-Ralph Hackett, Mr. Theodore Roosevelt
Robert, and Mr. Alan Patrick Wiegand. Upon a motion made by Mr. Bodnar, seconded by
President Rodriguez and carried, the above referenced individuals were accepted for
recommendation for employment on a probationary basis with the South Bend Police
Department.
Upon a motion made by Chief Fautz, seconded by President Rodriguez and carried, the meeting
adjourned at 8:38 a.m.

The Board of Public Safety met in Executive Session on Wednesday, November 20, 2006, at 8:41
a.m. The meeting was held at the South Bend Police Department in the Auditorium, 701 West
Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, for the purposes specified in I.C. 5-14-1.5-6.1 (b) (2) (B) and
(b) (6) (A). President Jesusa Rodriguez and Board Members Juanita Dempsey and Bruce J.
BonDurant were present. Board Members Donald Alford and Patrick Cottrell were not present.

SPECIAL MEETING NOVEMBER 20, 2006
The Board of Public Safety met in a special meeting at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2006,
with President Jesusa Rodriguez and Board Members atrick Cottrel Juanita Dempsey and Bruce J.
BonDurant present. Board Member Donald Alford was not present. Also present during the meeting
were Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar, and Police Chief Thomas Fautz. The hearing was held in the
Police Selection Panel, at the South Bend Police Department in the Auditorium, 701 West Sample
Street, South Bend, Indiana.
POLICE SELECTION PANEL
Chief Thomas Fautz submitted a letter recommending that the following individuals be accepted for
employment on a probationary basis with the South Bend Police Department effective November 20,
2006:
Douglas Alan Masterson
David Maurice-Ralph Hackett
Theodore Roosevelt Robert
Alan Patrick Wiegand
The above applicants have met the requirements of the application process of the South Bend
Police Department.
Alan Wiegand will be attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield Indiana on
December 11, 2006. Douglas Masterson is a certified police officer in the State of Indiana and will
not have to attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Davin Hackett and Theodore Robert are
certified in the State of Michigan and will go through the waiver process for the Indiana Law
Enforcement Academy. Upon a motion made by Ms. Dempsey, seconded by Mr. BonDurant and
carried, the above mentioned applicants were accepted for employment as probationary officers with
the South Bend Police Department effective November 20, 2006.

Chief Thomas Fautz stated in a letter of recommendation that the above individuals be accepted for
employment, as probationary police officers, with the South Bend Police Department, effective

Mr. John Voorde, City Clerk, was present and administered the Oath of Office to the above listed
individuals. The Board wished them well in their endeavors with the South Bend Police
Department. Upon a motion made by President Rodriguez, seconded by Ms. Dempsey and carried,
the swearing in of officers was approved.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Board, upon a motion made by President
Rodriguez, seconded by Ms. Dempsey and carried the meeting adjourned at 9:04 a.m.
