South Bend Redevelopment Commission
Regular Meeting –September 18, 2009

4. COMMUNICATIONS (CONT)

carving demonstration at a public school. We
conducted workshops “Introduction to Clay,”
“Modified Forms,” “Raku,” and “Business of Art” for
the community, and have provided a meeting place for
the Hoosier Art Patrons with a lecture from regional
artists Jon Hook and Andrea Peterson while their work
was on display. Our impact in the community will
strengthen with the acquisition of this building.

Sincerely,
William Healy
President FireArts Board

Mr. Inks noted that the Commission previously took
action to provide that building to FireArts. In the event
they are no longer using it, it will revert to the
Redevelopment Commission.

Mr. Inks noted that he also received an e-mail
communication from Joya Helmuth of Spark Fine Arts.
It says they have “managed to finish a successful
renovation and move in to our new space at 121 S.
Michigan Street. We are very excited to be here and are
thrilled to open today at noon. The fact that we were
able to make this happen, and in such a short timeframe,
is quite remarkable and due in no small part to the
efforts each one of you has made. Please know that I
am deeply grateful for your help and support. So, how
about an early preview. Please join us this morning
anytime between 10:00 a.m. and noon for a sneak peek
of the new shop. We will take off the window coverings
promptly at noon when we open our doors to the public.
Take a break on this beautiful Friday morning to come
over and enjoy donut holes and coffee. See you soon.”

5. OLD BUSINESS

TOB
There was no Old Business.
HERE WAS NO LD USINESS

4
