RESOLUTION NO./ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, URGING THE <br />INDIANA STATE LEGISLATURE TO INCLUDE TWO <br />ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS OF $125,000 FOR THE <br />INDIANA ACADEMY IN THE PUBLIC SERVICE, INC. <br />WIiEREAS, The Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, has learned that H.B. 2017 was reported out of the Senate <br />Finance Committee on April 2, 1981, in an amended version which <br />would eliminate the two annual appropriations of $125,000.00 for <br />the Indiana Academy in the Public Service, Inc.{ and <br />WHEREAS, The Common Council therefore realizes that if <br />H.B. 2017 is passed in its present form that there would be no <br />funding for the Indiana Academy in the Public Service, Inc. included <br />in the State budget; and <br />WHEREAS, The Common Council recognizes the many contributions <br />made by the Indiana Academy in the Public Service, Inc. through its <br />conferences and publications; and <br />WH=EREAS, The Common Council further recognizes the many years <br />of dedicated service which this Academy has devoted to Indiana's <br />elected public officials at the town <br />and , city, county, and state levels; <br />WHEREAS, The Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, believes that the Indiana Academy in the Public Service, Inc. <br />is entitled to funding from the state because of its very productive <br />and worthwhile programs which have been dedicated to improving the <br />quality of public service in the State of Indiana. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the <br />City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I: The Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana urges the Indiana State Legislature to include two annual <br />appropriations of $125,000.00 for the Indiana Academy in the Public <br />Service, Inc. <br />SECTION II: The Common Council specifically requests <br />Senator Borst of the Senate Finance Committee and Representative Long <br />of the House Finance Committee to vigorously work toward including <br />the requested annual appropriation of $125,000.00 for the Academy in <br />House Bill 2017 when it is sent to a Conference Committee. <br />SECTION III; The Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana believes that the hard work and dedication of the Indiana Academy <br />in the Public Service, Inc. through its many conferences and publications <br />over the past several years warrant that it be funded by the State of <br />Indiana in the requested amount. <br />SECTION IV: The:Common Council requests the City Clerk to <br />send a•copy o this Resolution to Senator Borst and Representative Long' <br />for their consideration. <br />SECTION V: This Resolution shall be in full force and effect <br />from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />PRESENTED 41-.12 -0" <br />NOT APPROVED <br />FILED I RUM �f <br />APR 13 1981 <br />,ADOPTED '� -/3- /� s_ - = Irene Gammon <br />✓2-�- �O CITY CLERK, SOUTH REND, IND. <br />
