RESOLUTION NO.q o Q _ I <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR <br />TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR AN ECONOMIC DE- <br />VELOPMENT GRANT, UNDER THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF <br />COMMERCE ECONOMIC'DEVELOPMENT GRANTS PROGRAM, <br />THROUGH THE INDIANA STATE DEPARTMENT OF COMMERCE. <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the office of the Mayor <br />and Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought out to improve <br />South Bend's economy by initiating and supporting economic development projects <br />which increase the City's tax base, job opportunities, and local incomes; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend, acting through the office of the Mayor <br />and Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought out state <br />assistance to support local efforts and to supplement local resources; and <br />WHEREAS, the purpose of the State Department of Commerce Economic De- <br />velopment Grants Program is to strengthen the local economic development <br />activities to provide greater employment for Indiana communities; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend would like to implement a development <br />packaging and job targeting mechanism to be utilized principally in economic <br />development activities that have a substantial potential for job creation; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor is the chief executive officer of the City, and is <br />the applicant for an Economic Development Grant through the Indiana State <br />Department of Commerce. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: <br />SECTION I: Hereby establishes the authority of the Mayor of the City <br />of South Bend to submit an application for funds in the amount of Eighty -seven <br />Thousand Seven Hundred Nine Dollars ($87,709.00) to the State Department of <br />Commerce. <br />SECTION II: Hereby designates the Department of Economic Development <br />and Redevelopment as the Administrative Agent for the program. <br />SECTION III: This resolution <br />and after its adoption by the Common <br />PRESENTED g — I 0 <br />NOT APPIEOM <br />ADOPTED 400'� % . - 10 — v <br />shall be in full force and effect from <br />Counci and approval by the Mayor. <br />Member of the Common Council <br />F6LED ID OFFICE <br />Irene Gammon <br />CITY CLERK, SOUTH BEND, IND. <br />
