LaSalle Ave. to Jon Maradik/Relos Gun Safety Orange Walk 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 Hunt Plaza Subject to p.m. Ending at Jon Hunt Plaza FAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE THE FIRST FAST/WEST ALLEY FROM OLIVE ST. TO FIRST NORTH/SOUTH ALLEY BETWEEN PR AST ST. AND LINCOLNWAY WEST Mr. Gilot indicated that Mr. Damon Howell, 840 N. Olive St., South Bend, Indiana, has submitted a request to vacate the above referenced alley. Mr. Gilot advised the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Engineering, Streets, Community Investment, Solid Waste, and Police, and Fire Departments. The recommendations indicated the vacation would not hinder the growth or orderly development of the unit or neighborhood in which it is located or to which it is contiguous. The vacation would not make access to the lands of the aggrieved person by means of public way difficult or inconvenient. The vacation would not hinder the public's access to a church, school or other public building or place. The vacation would not hinder the use of a public right-of-way by the neighborhood inwhich it is located or to which it is contiguous. Therefore, Ms. Maradik made a motion recommending approval of the request for vacation subject to notifying the petitioner that they will only get half of the alley and that may not be enough space for a driveway, Mr. Relos seconded the motion which carried. UNFAVORABLE RECOMMENDATION - PETITION TO VACATE THE FIRST ALLEY WEST OF FELLOWS RUNNING NORTH FROM MILTON. TO FIRST EAST/WEST ALLEY Mr. Gilot indicated that Ms. Jennifer Smith, 1821 Fellows Street, South Bend, Indiana 46613, has submitted a request to vacate the above referenced alley. Mr. Gilot advised the Board is in receipt of favorable recommendations concerning this Vacation Petition from the Fire Department and Solid Waste. Favorable recommendations were received from Engineering subject to a cross access agreement with the property owner at 1815 Fellows St., for the rear facing garage to have access from the north or south. Community Investment stated loss of the alley right-of-way would prevent garage access, making access to the lands of the aggrieved person by means of public way difficult or inconvenient, and recommended against the vacation. Ms. Maradik noted there are several homes on the alleyway and one garage and stated she would therefore make a motion to recommend against the vacation request. Ms. Doran seconded the motion which carried. APPROVE TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICE Upon a motion made by Ms. Maradik, seconded by Mr. Relos and carried, the following traffic control device was approved: NEW INSTALLATION: Speed Limit, 40 mph and Reduced Speed Ahead; Removal of Speed Limit, 30 mph
