X48 <br />PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION MAY 19, 2006 <br />The, Public Agenda Session of the Board of Public Works was convened at 3:00 p.m. on <br />Friday, May 19, 2006, by Board Member Carl P. Littrell with Mr. Donald E. Inks present. <br />Board President Gary A. Gilot was not present. Also present was board Attorney <br />Thomas Bodnar. Board of Public Works Clerk Angela Jacob presented the Board with a <br />proposed agenda of items presented by the public and by City Staff. <br />' AGENDA ITEMS ADDED/TABLED <br />Upon a motion made by Mr. Gilot, seconded by Mr. Littrell and carried, the following <br />items were added/tabled: <br />- Collection of Past Due Ambulance Accounts for the South Bend Fire Department - <br />Tabled <br />- Irrevocable Encroachment Permit -Billboard on Ireland Road -Added <br />- Meter Downsizing -Tabled <br />-Non-Recurring Charge Changes -Tabled <br />- License Application -Open Air Business - Natlie's Fruit Stand -Tabled <br />Board members discussed the following item(s) from that list. <br />- 2006 Street Materials <br />Mr. Jason Durr, Engineering, stated this bid was being awarded as a divisible bid <br />to three (3) contractors. The aggregate materials item number 5 is not being <br />awarded at this time. A quotation was received for that item in a lesser amount <br />than was bid. The line item will be rejected and then quoted out. <br />- Award Bid -Two Hundred Forty-Eight (248) Firefighter's Boots-and Helmets <br />Chief Rick Switalski, Fire Department, stated the above equipment is being <br />awarded to the lowest bidders. <br />- Request to Reject Bids and Re-advertise for the Receipt of Bids -Two Hundred Forty- <br />' Eight (248) Sets Firefighters Protective Clothing <br />Chief Rick Switalski, Fire Department, stated the above bid is being rejected and <br />re-advertised. The bid specifications will be modified in order to receive lower <br />bids. <br />- Request to Extend Bids -Construction Materials -Ductile PipeNalves/Fire Hydrants <br />Mr. Andy Wierzbicki, Water Works, stated the above bid is being extended from <br />' the year 2005 bid. Underground Pipe & Valve has offered to keep the 2005 bid <br />prices even though the cost of iron and other metals has risen. <br />- Proposal -Well Cleaning and Pump Reconditioning <br />Mr. Andy Wierzbicki, Water Works, stated the above proposal is for an estimated <br />cost of cleaning the well and reconditioning Pump Number 1 at Pinhook Park. <br />- Request to Advertise for the Receipt of Bids -LaSalle Area.Public Works Project <br />(1800-2100 Humboldt Street) -Project No. 106-039 <br />Mr. Rob Nichols, Engineering, stated the above project is for curb and sidewalk <br />work on Humboldt `Street. <br />- Request to Advertise for the" Receipt of Bids -Near West Side Public Works Project <br />(200-300 Huey Street) -Project No. 106-040 <br />Mr. Rob Nichols, Engineering, stated the above project is for curb and sidewalk <br />work on Huey Street. <br />- Request to Advertise for the Receipt of Bids -LaSalle Park Model Block (100-200 <br />North Wellington Street) -Project No. 106-041 <br />Mr. Rob Nichols;'Engineering, stated the above project is for curb and sidewalk <br />' ~ work on North Wellington Street. <br />- Request to Advertise for the Receipt of Bids -Oliver Gateway Neighborhood Public <br />(800 Block Walnut) -Project No. 106-042 <br />Mr. Rob Nichols, Engineering, stated the above project is for curb and sidewalk <br />work on Walnut Street. <br />- Ireland Road and Michigan Street Right-of--Way Acquisition Issuzs <br />Mr. Shawn Peterson, Legal, updated the Board on the project's acquisition issues <br />
