PUBLIC AGENDA SESSION FEBRUARY 8, 2006 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in the Public Agenda Session at 8:05 a.m. on Wednesday, February 8, <br />2006 with President Jesusa Rodriguez and Board Members Juanita Dempsey, Donald Alford and <br />Patrick D. Cottrell present. Also present were Police Services Division Chief Richard R. Kilgore, <br />Fire Chief Luther Taylor and Board Attorney Thomas Bodnar. Police Chief Thomas Fautz was not <br />present. <br />The meeting was held in the Board of Public Works Meeting Room, 13~` Floor, County City Building, <br />South Bend, Indiana. <br />Board members discussed the following item(s) from that list. <br />Mr. Bodnar stated item C4 of the Agenda should be changed from "Leave of Absence" to <br />"Administrative Leave". <br />- Minutes <br />Mr. Bodnar stated the minutes have been reviewed and there were been no corrections. <br />- Requests for Promotion -Fire Department <br />Chief Luther Taylor stated the promotions are for two Fire Fighters as a result of retirements. <br />These individuals were recommended by their supervisors. <br />- Request for Retirement -Fire Department <br />Chief Luther Taylor stated this individual has served the Fire Department for over 36 years <br />and has served the department well. <br />- Resolution 3-2006 -Request Amendment to Hiring Policy -Fire Department <br />Chief Luther Taylor requested permission to approve an amendment to the hiring policy. The <br />amendment will allow former Firefighters who resigned in good standing the opportunity to <br />return to the Department. <br />- Revised Statistical Analysis -December 2005 -Fire Department <br />Chief Luther Taylor stated the previous statistics had incorrect figures and the revised <br />statistics corrected the three categories. <br />- Request for Promotions -Police Department <br />Services Division Chief Richard Kilgore stated that the three promotions are the last of the <br />original eighteen month promotion program. <br />- Request for Retirement -Police Department <br />Services Division Chief Richard Kilgore stated this individual has served the Police <br />Department for over 39 years and <br />has served the Department well. <br />- Special Police Commission -Police Department <br />Mr. Thomas Bodnar stated a Special Police Commission for the South Bend Police <br />Department Crossing Guard Unit should be rescinded. <br />- Request for Administrative Leave -Police Department <br />Mr. Thomas Bodnar stated the Administrative Leave would be discussed in Executive <br />Session. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Board, President Rodriguez declared the meeting <br />adjourned at 8:17 a.m. <br />BOARD OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />s/Jesusa Rodriguez <br />s/Donald Alford <br />s/Juanita Dempsey <br />Attest: <br />s/Angela Jacob, Clerk <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION <br />FEBRUARY 8, 2006 <br />The Board of Public Safety met in Executive Session on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at 8:20 a.m. <br />The meeting was held in the Mayor's Conference Room, 14~` Floor, County City Building, South <br />
