On June 5, 2009, the Commission directed Staff to begin the statutory process to amend the Development Plan of this Area, to add properties to the acquisition list in three specific target areas within this Area. On July 14, 2009, the Conmmission approved Resolution No. 2552, a Declaratory Resolution to amend the Development Plan of this Area to allow for the acquisition and expenditure of funds on these various properties. On July 21, 2009, the St. Joseph County Area Plan Commission, the official plamling body for the City of South Bend, approved Resolution No. 201-09, which approved, ratified, and confirmed Resolution No. 2552, determining that it conforms to the plan of development for the City. On July 27, 2009, the South Bend Common Council, the municipal legislative body for the City, approved Resolution No. 3985-09, which approved, ratified, and confirmed the Area Plan Commissions Resolution No. 201-09. The final process in amending the Development Plan to allow these acquisitions is the Confirming Resolution before you today. Staff requests Commission approval of Confirming Resolution No. 2596, which will allow for the acquisition of these properties, and the rehabilitation of the area where they ar•e located.
