A permit is rewired only in conjunction with the interior of new residential <br />structures, residential additions of 1.000 s .ft. or more new commercial structures, and <br />commercial additions of 600 sq.ft. or more. <br />(2) Low Voltage wiring associated with HVAC steam fitting or refrigeration <br />installations may be performed b~properly licensed installers of those trades. <br />(3) All providers of "communication service" (as that term is defined at Ind. <br />Code 8 1 32 5 3) and satellite television service and entities acting as their agents are exempt <br />from the registration requirements of this Section 6-26 but they are not exempt from the permit <br />required by Swart b(1) above. <br />(4) All licensed Electrical Contractors are exempt from the low voltage <br />ie~istiation requirements of the Section 6 26 but they are not exempt from the permit required <br />Sul~art b(1) above. <br />SECTION II. Chapter 6, Article 6, Section 6-26.2 shall be amended to read in its entirety <br />as follows: <br />Sec.6-26.2 Re;ulations. <br />(a) Any contractor engaging for remuneration in the installation of low voltage wiring <br />shall be construed as doing business as a low voltage contractor. <br />(b) It shall be the duty of all low voltage contractors including those communication <br />service providers and others exempt from the registration requirements of Section 26.1, to <br />comply with the Electrical Code adopted by the City of South Bend. <br />(e) Failure to comply with the Electrical Code and all other applicable local, state, and <br />federal laws and regulations shall be grounds for suspension or revocation of a low voltage <br />wiring permit, issued hereunder, and may be grounds for refusal to renew the low voltage <br />contractor registration as well as any other penalties prescribed for violation of the Electrical <br />Code adopted by the City of South Bend. <br />Sec. 6-26.3 Registration. <br />(a) Application and fog°rns. All fornis required by this article shall be made available in <br />the Office of the Building Commissioner and shall be kept on file in -that office. Every <br />application for registration or renewal thereof, as required by this article, shall be filed with the <br />Office of the Building Commissioner. Such registrations shall be reviewed by the Building <br />Commissioner, or his representative, as to their content and applicability and shall be reviewed <br />on an annual basis. <br />(b) Fees. The annual fee for glow-voltage contractor registration shall be one hundred <br />dollars ($100.00). <br />
