Nussbaum, II Jenny Pitts Manier City Attorney Chief Assistant City Attorney February 17, 1997 Mr. Roland Kelly, President South Bend Common Council 4th Floor, County-City Building South Bend, IN 46601 Dear President Kelly: The enclosed appropriation is being submitted as part of the Capital Infusion Plan that was begun last August in order to ensure the long-term success of the College Football Hall of Fame. As you may recall, Ordinance No. 8711-96 that was passed on August 26, 1996, appropriated $500,000 to the Hall to help fund activities to market and promote the College Football Hall of Fame. That appropriation was matched by a similar contribution by the National Football Foundation. Along with the 1997 appropriation that is contemplated by the attached Ordinance, the National Football Foundation will also be making another $500,000 investment. The College Football Hall of Fame is, and will continue to be, a unique and valuable asset for the City of South Bend and its citizens. This appropriation will help to lay the foundation for its financial success. We would be pleased to answer any questions that you or any members of the Council may have and look forward to your action on this appropriation.
