A handout (attached) listed specific costs. George Lane asked where
the fund gets its money. The Mayor recounted the origination of the fund and its purpose. In that
the city owned the building, it was our responsibility to maintain the facility. Councilmember
White motioned to recommend favorably to Council. Councilmember Varner followed with a
second. All agreed to forward affirmatively.
Bill No. 44-09
Fanello said the bill would allow the city to borrow funds from various other funds in order to meet
operational expenses. This was necessary in that property tax disbursements have yet to be
billed, collected, or distributed. The borrowed funds would be paid back when taxes were
received. Councilmember Varner motioned 1St, Councilmember White seconded and all voted to
send favorably.
Under miscellaneous matters Councilmember Henry Davis urged the administration to redouble
efforts to apply for grants of federal dollars to help the City. The Mayor assured the city always
looks for and applies for grants being careful they be for specific projects rather than ongoing
operational expenses.
There being no further business to come before the Committee at this time, Chairperson
LaFountain adjourned the meeting at 5:07 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Tom LaFountain, Chairperson
Personnel and Finance Committee
