ORDINANCE NO. ~(~.~ ~ "~ <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CERTAIN MONETARY FRINGE BENEFITS <br />FOR FIREFIGHTERS OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DURING THE <br />CALENDAR YEARS OF 1998, 1999 AND 2000. <br />In 1996, the South Bend Common Council passed certain ordinances fixing the <br />annual pay and monetary fringe benefits of Firefighters of the South Bend Fire Department <br />for the calendar years 1997 through 2000. <br />At the time of passage of the Fire Department's salary ordinances of 1996, the <br />South Bend Fire Department was in the process of establishing a Safety Officer program, <br />and it was agreed by the City Negotiating Team and the Wage Committee of the South <br />Bend Firefighters Association, Local No. 362, that the final determination of the <br />appropriate amount of specialty pay for the Safety Officers could not be adequately <br />determined until it was more clearly known what duties, responsibilities and training <br />requirements of the safety officers were. The South Bend Fire Department wishes to now <br />establish specialty pay for Safety Officers. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: <br />Section I. Safety Officers S en cialty Pay. <br />Paragraph (f) shall be added to Section III of Ordinance No. 8696-96, which <br />paragraph shall read as follows: <br />(f) Safety Officers. The regularly assigned Safety Officer shall receive, in addition <br />to his or her base salary, the following amount: <br />1998 1999 2000 <br />$3000 ,3,000 X3,000 <br />Section II. Effective Date.
