Statement of Purpose and Intent
Regarding Eddy Street Commons PUD
Planned Unit Development
The Eddy Street Commons Planned Unit Development was originally approved by the
South Bend Common Council on July 16, 2007. A subsequent amendment concerning signs was
approved by the Area Plan Commission on August 19, 2008, followed by administrative
amendments concerning office square footage and construction trailers approved by the Executive
Director on August 21, 2008.
This rezoning petition seeks to further define the number of unrelated adults who may
occupy a dwelling unit within the portion of the previously approved Area 1 of the Eddy Street
Commons PUD.
Specifically, this rezone request proposes to add the following text to the Permitted
Uses portion of Area 1:
"A maximum of three (3) adults unrelated by blood, marriage or legal
adoption may live together in one (1) dwelling. However, a maximum of
two (2) adults unrelated by blood, marriage or legal adoption may live
together in one (1) dwelling unit that contains a single bedroom."
All other provisions within the previously approved Eddy Street Commons PUD,
as previously amended in 2008, are proposed to remain in place.
02351503.1
