SUBSTITUTE BILL ORDINANCE NO. v ! ~ ~ ~~~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCII, OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 6, BUILDING The purpose of this ordinance is to amend certain sections of Chapter 6, Building, to modify certain fees, licenses, and registrations for construction, demolition, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical permits, licenses, and registration. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: Section I. Sec. 6-4 (a)(1) be amended to read as follows: (1) The fee for permits issued for new construction and building additions shall be based upon the square footage of such new construction or addition at the rate of five cents ($0.05) per square foot for the first one hundred thousand (100,000) square feet and three cents {$0.03) per square foot for each additional square foot, with a minimum permit fee being $15.00. Section 2: Sec.6-6.3. Demolition permit be amended as follows: Sec. 6-6.3. Demolition permit and registration. (a) No person, firm, or corporation shall demolish or cause to be demolished a building or structure in the City without obtaining, in advance, a demolition permit from the Department. (b) The applicant shall file with the Department a completed application on the form provided, with all information indicated on the application submitted in full and with all other required information. c All persons performing demolition work within the Citv shall be registered with the Department. Registration shall be on forms„provided by the Department and shall be accompanied by pavment of a registration fee of $25.00. Said registration shall be far a term of one (1) year from the date of issuance. However. a owner of the property, perfonming their own demolition work shall be exempt from the bonding and reuistration requirement, with the exception of buildings or_structures being demolished are over 600 square feet. the owner shall be subject to the bondingrequirement set forth in Sec. 6-6.3 (d).
