ORDINANCE NO. ~ o -q 8 AN ORDINANCE OF THE SOUTH BEND COMMON COUNCIL AMENDING CHAPTER 16, ARTICLE 2, SECTION 6 OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE AND ESTABLISHING A CHARGE FOR CURBSIDE RECYCLING SERVICES STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The Solid Waste District Boazd of St. Joseph County has initiated acounty-wide mandatory curbside recycling program for single-family residences and multi-family residences of up to four (4) units. The South Bend Common Council has adopted a Resolution authorizing the Ciry of South Bend to participate in this mandatory curbside recycling program. The South Bend Common Council is to establish a rate for curbside recycling services in the City of South Bend. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCII. OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: Section I. Chapter 16, Article 2, Section 16-6 of the South Bend Municipal Code shall be, and hereby is, amended to read as follows: (d) The Ci shall charge the owner or occupant of each occupied single-family residence and individual unit within amulti-family residence of gp to four (4,1 units the sum of $1.97 per month for the collection of recyclables. f~~ Chazges for City collection of residential refuse and recyclables shall be added to the residential unit's water meter charges and collected as are bills for water services. {z11~ It is the responsibility of the owners, occupants or tenants of abutting property fo keep all alleys used by any sanitation vehicles clean, orderly and passable at all times. Section II.
