The purpose of this ordinance is to establish the property at the northwest corner of
Franklin Court and Jefferson Boulevard as an Historic Landmark. The described real estate
has several addresses but has been proposed as a single landmark due to the concentration of
development at this location within a single rectangular block of real estate which is easily
described by platted lot(s) and which exists under consolidated ownership. The area was
deemed by the Historic Preservation Commission to be of insufficient area and resource count
as to be addressed as an Historic District.
The Historic Preservation Commission has recommended designation of this property to the
Common Council at its meeting of August 17, 1998. The owner of the property has provided
consent for such designation by signing the standard consent for designation of a Local
Landmark which is on file in our office. A copy of the Staff `s favorable review and
recommendation regarding designation of this property is also enclosed.
rs ly
David B.
