Neighborhood Organization Goals: <br />• Promote and facilitate enhancement and revitalization of the near northwest neighborhood of <br />South Bend through increased home ownership, economic development and social outreach. <br />IV. Reasons for Historic District Designation: <br />• Extend the current historic district designation in the Riverbend Neighborhood to the western <br />boundary of the area. <br />• Place protection on the properties in order to stabilize the western boundary of the <br />neighborhood from further deterioration and commercial encroachment. <br />• Encourage historically appropriate residential rehabilitation. <br />• Provide a source of pride and protection to homeowners in the Riverbend neighborhood. <br />
