RESOLUTION 3 S ~~ ~~ A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, HONORING SOUTH BEND POLICE CORPORAL GALEN PELLETIER, THE 2005 POLICE OFFICER OF THE YEAR G'~~exa~ the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, notes that for the past four (4) years, the South Bend Police Department recognizes officers of the department for their dedication and heroism which has gone above and beyond the call of duty; and G'~~e~a the Common Council further recognizes that the most distinguished award which is annually given by the South Bend Police Department at their Awards Ceremony is the "Officer of the Year" Award ;and G'~j~a,~, the South Bend Common Council is especially proud to recognize the 2005 Police Officer of the Year, Corporal Galen Pelletier, a 10 year veteran of the South Bend Police Department whose duties include being a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer and a Uniform Crime Scene Technician; and ~~i ~exaa~ the Common Council would like to especially publicly recognize that when Corporal Pelletier accepted the "Officer of the Year" Award early this year, that he humbly dedicated the award to a fellow officer on the South Bend Police Department, his brother, Bill Pelletier, who was on the department for just 16-months when he was shot in April of 2005, in the line of duty while trying to arrest a suspect. ~ous, c-~iE~.~Oare, Ge itxeao%sed, /v~ tfie ~o~r~w~ ~au~~~ ~~` g~c-~i..c~/c ~ena; ~~edc'a~cu, as follows: Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby publicly commends, honors and celebrates the dedication, hard-work, and professionalism of the 2005 South Bend Police Officer of the Year, Corporal Galen Pelletier. Section II. The South Bend Common Council honors each of the 262 sworn police officers of the South Bend Police Department who daily work to protect the lives and properties of our citizens; and salutes in particular, Corporal Galen Pelletier, who is a role model for all police officers throughout our nation. We are forever grateful and fortunate to have such a fine person protecting and serving as a sworn member of the South Bend Police Department; who with his fellow officers provide public safety services on a 24/7 basis, and are daily striving to make our city a safer community for all.
