<br /> <br /> <br />NEWS RELEASE <br /> <br />May 20, 2009 <br /> <br />Contact: Ray Comer, Athletics Supervisor, 574.299.4768 ext. 235 <br /> <br />Pick Up a Racquet and Join the Party in South Bend <br /> <br /> <br />SOUTH BEND, Indiana – The biggest tennis party ever is coming to your neighborhood. <br /> <br />Throughout the month of May the USTA is serving up an ambitious and exciting <br />community initiative with a series of “tennis block parties” in markets nationwide. The <br />Tennis Block Parties will bring new ways to involve and expose new and existing players <br />to the unparalleled health and social benefits of tennis. <br /> <br />th <br />The South Bend Block Party will be held on Friday, May 29 , at the Leeper Tennis <br />Center, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The Leeper Tennis Center is located at 837 N. <br />Lafayette Blvd., South Bend, west of Memorial Hospital. Rain date is scheduled for <br />th <br />June 5 . <br /> <br />Hosted at public park facilities, Tennis Block Parties will feature three hours of tennis <br />instructions, interactive games, and attractions offering people of all ages and abilities <br />the opportunity to learn and enjoy the benefits of the game – from fun and competition <br />to lifestyle and fitness. Skilled teaching professionals, accomplished touring pros, and <br />special guests will guide attendees through games and skills during this day of fun and <br />learning. <br /> <br />Tennis Block Party events and attractions include: <br /> <br />?Quick Start Tennis, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />?Adult Tennis Instruction, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />?Open Play, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />Quick Start Tennis is directed towards the younger player. It uses smaller equipment, <br />and softer tennis balls that will not move as quick.
