RESOLUTION NO. 3 5 ~~ ~ob <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, PUBLICLY <br />HONORING THE "PRIDE OF THE WEST SIDE", THE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL GHtLS LADY <br />PANTI~RS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR BEING THE RUNNERS-UP IN THE <br />2006 STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP <br />'~1~eaa, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, recognizes that the 34.31 acre <br />campus of Washington High School contains 63 classrooms and is located at 4747 West Washington; and <br />G~~eaa, the Council notes that George McCullough serves as the Washington High School Principal, <br />that Teresa Phillips and Byron Sanders are the Assistant Principals, and they along with their dedicated teachers <br />"encourage students to question, to evaluate, and react to all sources of knowledge in order to develop <br />intellectually, physically, socially, creatively and emotionally; and <br />~',~1~eaa, the Council would especially like to publicly recognize that the Washington High School <br />Lady Panthers Basketball Team went 25-2 in an action packed season which South Bend will long remember; <br />with the Common Council being proud to acknowledge each of the student-athletes and the hard-working staff <br />of the 2005-2006 Washington High School Varsity Girls Basketball Team, namely: <br />Cheneka Anderson, Junior Guard <br />Lauren Archie, Junior Forward <br />Katie Boocher, Junior Center <br />Skylar Diggins, Freshman Guard <br />Destini Minor, Sophomore Guard <br />Shalana Murray, Sophomore Forward <br />Emily Phillips, Sophomore Guard <br />Karis Phillips, Freshman Guard <br />Jena Stopczynski, Junior Guard <br />Jacquese Stuckey, Sophomore Center <br />Ashley Varner, Junior Forward <br />Sherice White, Junior Guard/Forward <br />Paris Wright, Senior Guard <br />Marilyn Coddens, Head Coach <br />Don Coddens, Assistant Coach <br />Maurice Scott, J.V. Coach <br />Tim Balasa, Freshman Coach <br />Andrea Etienne, Manager <br />Maggie Pal, Manager <br />Amanda Schreeg, Manager <br />Pat Mackowiak, Athletic Director <br />~~eaa, the Common Council and the City of South Bend residents know that there is something very <br />special about the fine citizens, the good students, and the very talented Lady Panther teammates and coaching <br />staff who epitomize the very best of team sportsmanship, and who have worked hard to earn the title of the <br />"Pride of the West Side" as they daily live by their team motto of "No Weak Linl~'. <br />~au`, C~~ex~e, lie itxP.eoGr~ea! by the Common Council of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council <br />congratulates each & every student-athlete and staff of the "PRIDE OF THE WEST SIDE", THE 2005-2006 <br />WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS LADY PANTHERS BASKETBALL TEAM for being the runners-up in <br />the 2006 4-A Indiana State Basketball Championship, and for their most memorable 25-2 basketball season. <br />Section II.
