SO~[~~--lf I~lE1~Il®
~ ~ l~l[-1[-A G lE 1F0 ~l(l~I ID~~1[ O l~I
914 Lincolnway West South Bend, IN 46616
Phone (219) 289-1066 Fax (219) 289-4550
August 4, 1999
Dear Members of the Common Council:
South Bend Heritage Foundation (SBHF) has purchased the former Blume's block with
the intention of rehabilitating it for its future offices (Heritage Community Development
Center).
Directly behind the buildings there is a 10 feet FJW alley and adjacent to that is a
residential lot owned by SBHF (the former location of WNDU's Our House"). This
vacated lot has been incorporated into the site plan to allow for parking and
landscaping. Consequently, the alley would run directly through the parking lot. As the
attached site plan shows traffic will be able to go through the parking lot between N.
Cushing and the N/S alley lying west of the site. However, for the purposes of
developing and maintaining the property and locating elements of landscaping SBHF
requests that the alley be vacated.
We look forward to a favorable recommendation to vacate this alley.
Sincerely,
/ ~
Dea Andrews
Administration Manager
South Bend Heritage Foundation
914 Lincolnway West
South Bend, IN 46616
(219) 289-1066
