Washington (Real) <br />Bill No. 09-16 -Tax Abatement 2001 W. Washington (Personal) <br />Bill Nos. 09-15 and 09-16 are petitions by Royal Adhesives for real and personal abatement <br />respectively to facilitate the expansion of their facility allowing new construction and the creation <br />of jobs at their site on West Washington. <br />Tim Rouse, Chairperson, asked Bob Mathia to present the particulars of the petitions to the <br />Committee. Subsequently, Mathia introduced Gary Steinke the CFO of Royal Adhesives. <br />Together they spoke of job creation indicating 28 positions, 16 blue collar production jobs at $15 - <br />$18 an hour, and 12 white collarjobs at $70,000 plus per year. An old O'Brien Paint bldg would <br />be demolished and a new facility constructed. Councilmember Oliver Davis asked about a <br />timeline for hiring. Steinke hoped for blue collar hiring by late summer, white collar by the end of <br />the year. He added that Royal intended to work with local agencies including neighborhood <br />organizations to seek employees. Councilmember Henry Davis endorsed the city's and Royal's <br />efforts to keep investment and jobs on the West Side. On Councilmember Henry Davis' motion, <br />seconded by Councilmember Puzzello with support from all the bills go to Council favorably. <br />There being no further business to come before the committee at this time, Chairperson Rouse <br />adjourned the meeting at 5:25 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />c j "' <br />Timothy Rous hairperson <br />Community conomic Development Committee <br />
