nur' <br />�; eYwcw. y <br />RESOLUTION NO.-5 5 ILO <br />Wall Street Posse, Adams High School <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />CONGRATULATING THE JOHN ADAMS HIGH SCHOOL TEAM "WALL STREET POSSE ": <br />THE 2016 INDIANA HIGH SCHOOL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION <br />Whereas, one of the many programs sponsored by the Indiana Bar Foundation is the Annual Indiana High <br />School Mock Trial Competition, held March 5 -6, in Indianapolis, Indiana, included teams from high schools in <br />northeast, northwest and central Indiana; and <br />Whereas, the purpose of the Indiana Mock Trial program is "to stimulate and encourage a deeper <br />understanding and appreciation of the American legal system, by providing students the opportunity to learn the <br />judicial system through a hands -on experience. Through mock trials, students gain an understanding of society's <br />approach to dispute resolution and justice through an experiential learning opportunity "; and <br />Whereas, the South Bend Common Council is especially proud to congratulate each and every John <br />Adams High School student who participated this year in the Indiana High School Mock Trial Competition. The <br />John Adams' Mock Trial Program has won 17 State Mock Trial Championships and 2 National Titles. The <br />school's program was founded by Mike Szucs and is the largest mock trial program in the country. This year's <br />roster included 87 students, 16 coaches, 2 sponsors, and 1 mentor. <br />Now, Therefore, be it resolved, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />Section I. On behalf of the residents of the City of South Bend, the South Bend Common Council is proud <br />to publicly commend, honor, and sincerely congratulate all of the John Adams High School students who <br />participated in the 2016 Indiana High School Mock Trial Competition; Principal James Seitz, Coaches; Teacher <br />Sponsors: Donna Sharp and Nicholas Leatherman; all of the volunteer attorneys, and the family and friends who <br />helped to prepare and support all of these competing high school students who have brought honor to themselves, <br />John Adams High School, and the South Bend Community. <br />Section II. The 2016 Indiana High School Mock Trial Competition Champions: (Wall Street Posse) <br />composed of seven (7) John Adams High School students, Ilan Friedland, Sam Brockman, Madeline Kimmell, <br />Alicia Porile, Alice Goulding, Miranda Manier and Connor Hoban, and their Coaches: Attorneys Jeff <br />Kimmell and John Scanlon will now represent the City of South Bend, Indiana, in the national competition to <br />be held this May in Boise, Idaho.
