- Laura Boil WSBT radio group is promoting & DTSB ON Michiana Events <br />- Matt: went from a parade to a walk <br />- Betsy: How many floats? <br />- Becky: 3 (2 floats, 1 bus) <br />- Earny: Owl house? <br />- Matt: In process of rebuilding, go through state DNR for license: Owls, hawks, falcons. <br />Working through permit issues. Hoping to move and expand cat section, eventually it <br />will double in size <br />Policy: <br />- Matt: Policy proposal for night calls, review: <br />- Goes over draft with commission. SBACC Officer works a full day then goes home but <br />remains on call the entire night receiving calls. At night we are trying to empower the <br />public and let them know we only respond to emergencies. <br />- Earny: Police communication? <br />- Matt: Many calls come from 911. Citizens can call 911, leave a message for SBACC <br />Office, or direct on call officer <br />- Matt: We will go out for any animal injured in the city <br />- Betsy: Any calls on deer? <br />- Matt: depends. on the time of year but yes. It is the responsibility of the police to <br />"euthanize" <br />- Matt: We put this together ourselves, we will be taking it to police for review <br />- Earny: Number of calls? <br />- Matt: Nights= around 3 -4, winter almost zero. Days= 1 -3 thousand (going out on about <br />30 +) <br />- Matt: New shelter hours: Mon -Fri loam -6 pm, Wed. loam -7pm, no weekends <br />- Betsy: Warrents? Commission hasn't seen anything come up <br />- Matt: Don't do as many, we post compliance notices <br />Earny: Dog fighting? <br />- Matt: wrapping up a case; Howard Fleming, guy plead guilty to possession of animals for <br />fighting (5 dogs) and narcotics <br />- Earny: Is there still a dog fighting issue in the city? <br />- Becky: Corner dog fights in the county are still popular <br />Matt: State is working on a Bill to make attending a dog fight a felony, HSUS is pushing <br />more for dog fighting regulations <br />- Earny: Any other questions from anyone? <br />- Matt: Subscribe to news letter SBACC from Facebook <br />- Earny: Next meeting? <br />- Emily: December 1St, 2015 at 6:30 pm <br />- Betsy: Define "severe weather ", police will want to know (thinking from their <br />perspective) <br />- Matt: as long as the animal is not going to die unfortunately.
