RESOLUTION NO. gts'_$'a <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL AUTHOR- <br /> IZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION <br /> FOR A GOVERNOR' S DISCRETIONARY GRANT, UNDER <br /> THE COMPREHENSIVE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING <br /> ACT THROUGH THE INDIANA OFFICE OF OCCUPA- <br /> TIONAL DEVELOPMENT. <br /> WHEREAS , the. City of South Bend, acting through the Office <br /> of the Mayor and the Common Council, has aggressively and successfully <br /> sought to improve South Bend' s economy by initiating and supporting <br /> economic development projects which increase the City' s tax base, job <br /> opportunities, and local incomes; and <br /> WHEREAS , the City of South Bend, acting through the Office <br /> of the Mayor and Common Council, has aggressively and successfully sought <br /> out assistance to support local efforts and to supplement local resources; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of the Governor' s Discretionary Fund is <br /> to strengthen the links between economic development activities and CETA <br /> efforts to provide employment for low to moderate income persons ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of South Bend would like to continue its <br /> development packaging and job targeting linkage mechanism and strengthen <br /> said mechansim with an industrial development inducement project to be <br /> utilized principally in economic development activities that have a sub- <br /> stantial potential for job creation; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor is the chief executive officer of the City, <br /> and is the applicant for a Governor' s Discretionary Grant through the <br /> Indiana Office of Occupational Development. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the <br /> City of South Bend, Indiana: <br /> SECTION I. The Mayor has the authority to submit an applica- <br /> tion for funds from the Governor' s Discretionary Fund through the Indiana <br /> Office of Occupational Development. <br /> SECTION II . The Department of Redevelopment shall be Admin- <br /> istrative Agent for the program, should funds be awarded. <br /> SECTION III .
