P <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 1055-83 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING MARCHMONT <br /> KOVAS FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE <br /> TO OUR COMMUNITY AS THE CITY GOVERNMENT WRITER <br /> FOR THE SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE. <br /> WHEREAS, Marchmont Kovas has been employed by the South <br /> Bend Tribune since March of 1940; and <br /> WHEREAS, Marchmont Kovas began as a general assignment <br /> reporter and then was promoted to the "City Hall Beat" in <br /> November of 1963; and <br /> WHEREAS, he served his country during World War II in the <br /> European Theatre and was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and <br /> Silver Star for his valour; and <br /> WHEREAS, for the past twenty (20) years, Marchmont Kovas <br /> has brought objectivety and the highest standards of professional <br /> journalism in his reporting of South Bend City Government. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of <br /> the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br /> SECTION I. The Common Council, on behalf of all of the <br /> citizens of South Bend, publicly commends and thanks South Bend <br /> Tribune writer Marchmont Kovas for his more than forty years of <br /> dedicated service to our Community. <br /> SECTION II. The Common Council publicly asknowledges the <br /> many contributions to our Community through his thoughtful and <br /> factual writings, and wishes him and his family continued good <br /> fortune in the years ahead. <br /> SECTION III. -This Resolution shall be in full force and <br /> effect from and after its adoption by the Common Council and <br /> approval by the Mayor. / 4 <br /> Oriosep' T.
