P • RESOLUTION NO. 1055-83 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING MARCHMONT KOVAS FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO OUR COMMUNITY AS THE CITY GOVERNMENT WRITER FOR THE SOUTH BEND TRIBUNE. WHEREAS, Marchmont Kovas has been employed by the South Bend Tribune since March of 1940; and WHEREAS, Marchmont Kovas began as a general assignment reporter and then was promoted to the "City Hall Beat" in November of 1963; and WHEREAS, he served his country during World War II in the European Theatre and was awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Silver Star for his valour; and WHEREAS, for the past twenty (20) years, Marchmont Kovas has brought objectivety and the highest standards of professional journalism in his reporting of South Bend City Government. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The Common Council, on behalf of all of the citizens of South Bend, publicly commends and thanks South Bend Tribune writer Marchmont Kovas for his more than forty years of dedicated service to our Community. SECTION II. The Common Council publicly asknowledges the many contributions to our Community through his thoughtful and factual writings, and wishes him and his family continued good fortune in the years ahead.
