RESOLUTION NO. 1035-83 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE YOUTH ACTION <br /> TEAM FOR ITS DEDICATION AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO CIVIC <br /> ACTIVITIES <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend <br /> recognizes the Youth Action Team has been involved with the <br /> crusade to remove the Violin Woman Sculpture from atop the <br /> water fountain in front of the Morris Civic Auditorium; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Youth Action Team has gathered hundreds <br /> of signatures on a petition urging that the sculpture be <br /> relocated to a grassy knoll near the water fountain; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Youth Action Team believes that the Violin <br /> Woman Sculpture blocks the main water jets of the fountain <br /> which severely alter one of the most beautiful fountains in <br /> South Bend; and <br /> WHEREAS , through the work of the Youth Action Team and <br /> Mark Kurowski, a special committee has been appointed to take <br /> a comprehensive and detailed review of the location of the Violin <br /> Woman Sculpture. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE ITS RESOLVED by the Common Council of <br /> the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows : <br /> SECTION I . The Common Council commends the Youth Action <br /> Team for its energy and efforts to have their voice heard on <br /> the location of the Violin Woman Sculpture. <br /> SECTION II . The Common Council further commends the <br /> Youth Action Team and Mark Kurowski for working with and <br /> through the civic process on this community activity. <br /> SECTION III .
