2015 Annual Report "` <br /> Of the <br /> Community Investment Committee <br /> of the <br /> South Bend Common Council <br /> Date: December 1, 2015 [Groundbreaking at Ignition Park] <br /> To: The South Bend Common Council <br /> The Office of the City Clerk <br /> From: Council Member Gavin Ferlic, Community Investment Chairperson <br /> Pursuant to the requirements of § 2-10 (i) of the South Bend Municipal Code, I am filing this Annual <br /> Report as the Chairperson of the Council's Community Investment Committee. <br /> Duties: The Community Investment Committee "oversees the various activities of the Department of <br /> Community Investment. It review all real, personal and residential tax abatement requests". <br /> Members: There were four (4) Council Members and two (2) citizen member this year serving on the <br /> Committee, namely: <br /> Council Member at Large Gavin FerlicChairperson <br /> 5th District Council Member at Dr. David Varner, Vice-Chairperson <br /> 2°d District Council Member Henry Davis, Jr., Member <br /> 4th District Council Member Dr. Fred Ferlic, Member <br /> Citizen Member Robert Emery <br /> Citizen Member Patrick Mullin <br /> Meetings: Twenty-five (25) public meetings were held this year, with three (3) of those being joint <br /> committee meetings with either the Council's Community Relations Committee or PARC Committee. <br /> All Committee minutes have been posted on the Common Council's website. <br /> The City of South Bend provides several opportunities and resources for resident and businesses to <br /> relocate or expand within the City limits. The Business Toolkit depicted above provides a summary of <br /> such programs and services. <br /> The majority of the committee meetings were scheduled for the purpose of holding public hearings on tax <br /> abatement petition requests,and to provide an advisory recommendation back to the South Bend Common <br /> Council. The following list indicates some of the locations where either new developments or expansions <br /> of existing properties, and the variety of developments which are taking place in South Bend this year: <br />
