COMMUNITY RELATIONS NOVEMBER 9,2015 5:12 P.M. <br /> Committee Members Present: Karen White,Valerie Schey(XAB),Gavin Ferlic, <br /> Derek Dieter(XAB) <br /> Citizen Members Present: Gavin Seabe (AB),Alfreda Gillespie (AB) <br /> Other Council Present: Tim Scott, Henry Davis(AB), Dr. Fred Ferlic,Oliver Davis (AB), <br /> Dr. David Varner <br /> Others Present: Aaron Perri <br /> Agenda: Bill No. 15-98 Encourage Public Participation on City of South <br /> Bend Flag Design Contest and Setting Rules& <br /> Regulations for Formal Approval <br /> The Community Relations Committee was called to order by its Chair Karen White who noted there was <br /> not a quorum present and no vote could be taken on the bill. <br /> The one agenda item bill 15-98 was a resolution to heighten awareness of the ongoing city flag design <br /> contest. Both Tim Scott and Gavin Ferlic had co-sponsored this resolution. The presentation was made <br /> by Aaron Perri, Director of Downtown South Bend Inc. (DTSB)Aaron enthusiastically explained the <br /> contest and with the help of a video,the basic elements of good flag design. He said city flags play an <br /> important role in building local pride and loyalty, as well as providing a great opportunity for public <br /> participation in this year's sesquitennual. This resolution was aimed at increasing citizen participation in <br /> the contest. The contest deadline originally set for November 16th was to be extended to November <br /> 23`d. <br /> Council President Tim Scott spoke enthusiastically about getting involved in the contest. <br /> After further discussion Karen White adjourned at 5:28 P.M. <br /> Respectfully Submitted, <br /> Karen L.white, Chairperson <br /> Community Relations Committee <br /> 1 <br />
