RESOLUTION NO. 1102-83 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING <br /> LEWIS A.MCGANN FOR -HIS FOUR YEARS OF DEDICATED <br /> SERVICE AS A COUNCILMAN FOR THE FOURTH DISTRICT <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br /> recognizes that Lewis A. McGann has diligently served the citizens of <br /> South Bend and in particular the citizens of the Fourth District since <br /> 1980; and <br /> WHEREAS, during this period of time, Councilman McGann served as <br /> President of the City Council fot three years; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes with pride some of <br /> Councilman McGann's many contributions which included: co-sponsoring <br /> the "budget reform" or "truth in spending" ordinance: helping to <br /> negotiate the first 3-year police and fire wage package in the history <br /> of the City; sponsoring the ordinance to regulate outdoor motion <br /> picture theaters through licensing; assisting in reforming all City <br /> licensing procedures; and instituting a mandatory review of all City <br /> utility rates on a regular basis; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Common Council hopes that Councilman McGann will <br /> continue to stay active in public service activities and will continue <br /> to contribute his thoughts and ideas in making South Bend a better <br /> place to live and work. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE Common Council of the City <br /> of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br /> SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Bend, Indiana, and <br /> in particular the citizens of the Fourth District, the Common Council <br /> hereby publicly commends and thanks Councilman Lewis A. McGann for his <br /> four years of dedicated public service as Fourth District Councilman. <br /> SECTION II. The Common Council' publicly acknowledges Councilman <br /> McGann' s many contributions to improve the quality of life in South <br /> Bend, and wishes him, his wife Kathy, and their children, continued <br /> good fortune in the years ahead. <br /> SECTION III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect <br /> from and after its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the <br /> Mayor. <br /> Josep., T.
