RESOLUTION NO. j` j s- $S' <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS <br /> WITHIN THE CITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS <br /> THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF MICHIGAN AND WASHINGTON STREETS <br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br /> AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AREA FOR <br /> PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT. <br /> WHEREAS, a petition for real property tax abatement <br /> consideration has been filed with the Common Council of the <br /> City of South Bend, requesting that the area commonly known as <br /> the Southwest Corner of Michigan and Washington Streets, South <br /> Bend, Indiana , and which is more particularly described as <br /> follows: <br /> The following parcel of real estate located in St . Joseph <br /> County, State of Indiana, and the City of South Bend, <br /> to-wit: <br /> All of lots 25 and 26 and the North 28 feet of <br /> Lot 27 of the original plat of the Town (now <br /> City) of South Bend, St. Joseph County, Indiana, <br /> more particularly described as follows : <br /> Beginning at the northeast corner of said Lot 25; <br /> thence South a distance of 160 .20 feet along the <br /> west boundary of Michigan Street; thence West a <br /> distance of 165.88 feet along a line parallel to <br /> and 28 feet south of the north line of Lot 27 to <br /> a point on the west line of said Lot 27 ; thence <br /> North a distance of 160. 20 feet along the west <br /> lines of Lots 27, 26 and 25; thence East a dis- <br /> tance of 165. 88 feet along the north line of Lot <br /> 25 to the point of beginning, containing 26,574 <br /> square feet (0. 610 acres) , more or less. <br /> be designated as an Economic Revitalization Area under the pro- <br /> visions of Indiana Code 6-1 .1-12.1-1 , et seq. ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Commission has concluded an <br /> investigation and prepared a report with information sufficient <br /> for the Common Council to determine that the area qualifies as <br /> an Economic Revitalization Area under Indiana Code 6-1 .1- <br /> 12 .1-1, et seq. , and has further prepared maps and plats show- <br /> ing the boundaries and such other information as required by <br /> law of the area in question; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Human Resources and Economic Development <br /> Committee of the Common Council has reviewed said report and <br /> recommended to the Common Council that the area qualifies as an <br /> Economic Revitalization Area. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE , BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council <br /> of the City of South Bend, Indiana , as follows : <br /> SECTION I . That the Common Council hereby accepts the <br /> report and recommendation of the Human Resources and Economic <br /> Development Committee that the area herein described be desig- <br /> nated an Economic Revitalization Area and hereby adopts a reso- <br /> lution designating this area as an Economic Revitalization Area <br /> for purposes of real property tax abatement . <br /> SECTION II . That this designation shall be limited to <br /> five (5) calendar years from the date of the adoption of this <br /> Resolution by the Common Council. <br />
