RESOLUTION NO. 04 -ad <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, COMMENDING THE PRINCIPAL, <br /> TEACHERS, AND STUDENTS AT JACKSON MIDDLE SCHOOL <br /> WHO ARE SPEARHEADING THE "SAVE OUR LITTLE LIBERTY <br /> FUND" <br /> WHEREAS, the South Bend Common Council notes that the students of <br /> Jackson Middle School have joined together with the students of St. <br /> Anthony's Junior High School in spearheading a campaign to restore the <br /> Statue of Liberty in front of the County Courthouse in our downtown; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the students have brought the statue's deteriorating <br /> condition to the attention of the public and wish to restore it as a <br /> symbol of bride to our City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Ccam on Council wishes to publicly commend all of the <br /> hardworking students of Jackson Middle School, their principal, Mr. <br /> Michael Harding, and the Staff Members of the Art Department in their <br /> spirited efforts to promote public awareness and involvement in saving <br /> and restoring South Bend's Statue of Liberty. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL of the City <br /> of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br /> SECTION I. On behalf of the citizens of South Rend, Indiana, <br /> the Common Council hereby publicly commends the students, teachers, and <br /> principal of Jackson Middle School who are involved in establishing the <br /> "Save Our Little Liberty Fund." <br /> SECTION II. The Council believes that the enthusiasm and work <br /> of the Jackson Middle School's individuals, in conjunction with the <br /> spirited enthusiasm and work of those involved from St. Anthony's <br /> Junior High School, and Staff Members from Southhold and the Historic <br /> Landmarks Foundation of Indiana, is one of the best examples of <br /> contributing positively to our Community. <br /> SECTION III. The Common Council urges all citizens who wish to <br /> become involved with the "Save Our Little Liberty Fund" to contact the <br /> school officials so that "Our Little Liberty" can once again be a <br /> symbol of pride in our Community. <br /> SECTION IV.
