<br /> P T A RESOLUTION OF THE COPAION COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
<br /> SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, DESIGNATING TUESDAY, MARCH 4,
<br /> ` '• 1986, AS "TEACHER DAY USA" IN SOUTH BEND, INDIANA
<br /> WHEREAS, each year the Comm Council of the City of South Bend,
<br /> Indiana, is proud to adopt a resolution designating "Teacher Day USA" at the
<br /> local level; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the National Education Association has designated Tuesday,
<br /> March 4, 1986, as "TEACHER DAY USA" as a day of national recognition of the
<br /> countless professional services teachers perform for our children; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the role of teachers is especially meaningful and poignant
<br /> this year as we remember a dedicated high school teacher from Concord, New
<br /> Hampshire, who said "I touch the future. I teach!" and a second grade
<br /> teacher from McCall, Idaho, who plans to "push on" in the quest of our
<br /> Nation's teacher-astronaut program; and
<br /> WHEREAS, the Cannon Council wishes to publicly commend all of the
<br /> teachers of the South Bend Community School Corporation for daily
<br /> challenging our youth in their intellectual and social growth and
<br /> development.
<br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Cannon Council of the City of
<br /> South Bend, Indiana, as follows:
<br /> SECTION I. The Cannon Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana,
<br /> recognizes the vital role that teachers have in public education all across
<br /> America and especially in South Bend, Indiana.
<br /> SECTION II. The Common Council publicly commends all teachers of the
<br /> South Bend Community School Corporation for their countless contributions to
<br /> our educational system and hereby declares Tuesday, March 4, 1986, as
<br /> "TEACHER DAY USA" in South Bend, Indiana.
<br /> SECTION III. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from
<br /> and after its adoption by the Conan Council and ap.roval by t Mayor.,
