Section II. Annual Maximum Salaries.. (a) Definitions: For purposes of this ordinance, "Salary Classifications"mean Categories for salary and annual pay purposes only. "Rank"does not mean salary classification. (b) Annual Pay for Sworn Members of the South Bend Fire Department: Maximum annual pays for the sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department, including upper level policy making positions defined by Indiana Code § 36-8-1-12 for calendar years 2015, 2016 and 2017 shall be set as follows: Salary Classification 2015 2016 2017 Fire Chief $94,095 $95,977 $97,897 Assistant Fire Chiefs $79,165 $80,748 $82,363 Battalion Chiefs $68,320 $69,686 $71,080 Captains $58,323 $59,781 $61,276 Firefighter 1 st Class $54,268 $55,462 Firefighter 2nd Class $48187 $56,682 $49,247 Firefighter 3rd Class $39,858 $40,735 $411 (c) Annual Pay for Firefighter Recruit: The maximum annual pay for a Firefighter Recruit of the South bend Fire Department shall be as follows: 2015: $38,146 2016: $38,985 2017: $39,843 (d) Salaries for Non-Rank Specialties: Qualified sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department who are regularly assigned to perform any of the following non-rank specialties, shall be paid as follows: Non-Rank Specialties 2015 2016 2017 Arson Investigators $58,323 $59,781 $61,276 Inspectors $58,323 $59,781 $61,276 Instructors $58,323 $59,781 $61,276 Lieutenant/Paramedic $55,367 $56,585 $57,830 Pump Engineer/First Driver $55,188 $56,402 $57,643 It is the continuing intent of the city to eliminate the non-rank specialty of"Lieutenant/Paramedic by attrition.
