RESOLUTION NO. ~ ~°~~6~ <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE <br />INDIANA DEVELOPMENT FINANCE AUTHORITY FOR A GRANT FROM THE <br />PETROLEUM REMEDIATION GRANT INCENTIVE PROGRAM FOR 821 PORTAGE <br />AVENUE <br />WHEREAS, the Indiana Development Finance Authority is administering the <br />Petroleum Remediation Grant Incentive program for remediating petroleum <br />contamination at brownfield sites; and <br />WHEREAS, the maximum grant amount is $250,000 and is to be used for a <br />single project; and <br />WHEREAS, an environmental assessment of 821 Portage Avenue has <br />determined that there are multiple underground storage tanks and has determined that <br />the removal of the underground storage tanks and potential environmental remediation <br />will be needed for future development of this site; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of South Bend would like to apply for funds from the <br />Petroleum Remediation Grant Incentive program to pay for the removal of the <br />underground storage tanks and for cleanup of contamination caused by petroleum <br />products at 821 Portage Avenue; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor is the Chief Executive Officer of the City and is the <br />appropriate applicant for the grant from the Petroleum Remediation Grant Incentive <br />program. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. That the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, is hereby <br />authorized to submit a grant application in the maximum amount of $250,000 to the <br />Indiana Development Finance Authority for a grant from the Petroleum Remediation <br />Grant Incentive program and to execute all documents related to the Petroleum <br />Remediation Grant Incentive. <br />SECTION II. That the Mayor of the City of South Bend, Indiana, shall file with the <br />Common Council a complete copy of the Petroleum Remediation Grant Incentive <br />application to be submitted to the Indiana Development Finance Authority. <br />
